Neurometer® Evaluation of Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) and Vibration Neuropathy

 Patient Care

The Neurometer evaluation  has been demonstrated to be extremely sensitive to Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS).  This sensory impairment is nonspecific in that generally, all the sensory nerves in the hand or impaired with this condition. The initial stages of HAVS are hyperesthetic. Hyperesthesia is routinely detected by the Neurometer sensory Nerve Conduction Threshold evaluation. No other neurodiagnostic test is capable of detecting this condition. The most striking feature of HAVS neuropathy is a complete sparing of the small diameter unmyelinated sensory nerve fibers. This sparing of small unmyelinated sensory nerve fibers been found in research studies involving both humans and laboratory rats as demonstrated by Neurometer sNCT studies.
